View ChartTEN Protocol is an encrypted Ethereum Layer-2 network designed for AI-native applications, iGaming, and privacy-preserving smart contracts. It positions itself as Ethereum's privacy Layer-2, delivering what it calls "Smart Transparency" through TEE-powered programmable privacy. The network brings institution-grade encryption, verifiable randomness, confidential computing, and MEV-free execution to unlock new applications across gaming, DeFi, AI, and finance.
By executing code inside Trusted Execution Environments, TEN enables encrypted, autonomous, and composable on-chain applications, unlocking private DeFi, verifiable AI agents, and complex on-chain games. The project aims to make crypto feel like normal apps by hiding sensitive logic while keeping Ethereum's security guarantees. TEN executes sensitive parts of a contract within secure hardware enclaves and then anchors results to Ethereum, creating a new class of on-chain experiences that preserve user privacy, protect proprietary logic, and remain fully programmable and composable.
The token has a total supply of 1,000,000,000 TEN. According to CoinMarketCap, the circulating supply is approximately 89,223,495 TEN, representing about 8.92% of the total supply. TEN Protocol launched in 2021 on Ethereum under the earlier Obscuro name; the token was listed on CoinMarketCap on August 28, 2025.

TEN utilizes Trusted Execution Environments as its core infrastructure component. TEEs provide hardware-based privacy that shields smart contract logic, state, and transaction data from external observers, including node operators. This technology creates what TEN classifies as confidential rollups, combining optimistic rollup performance with privacy guarantees.
The network operates through a Proof of Block Inclusion consensus mechanism. Aggregator nodes stake TEN to participate in rollup creation, transaction sequencing, and consensus. TEN's architecture encrypts transactions at the wallet level before network submission. Transaction details, including balances and participant addresses, remain hidden until revelation occurs according to developer-defined rules.
Smart contracts execute within TEE environments while maintaining Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility. The protocol allows smart contracts to operate with private shared state, where transaction data, contract logic, and balances are hidden by default. If confidentiality mechanisms fail, the network reverts to transparent execution without compromising correctness or user balances. Transactions on TEN are encrypted before submission and remain confidential during execution, reducing exposure to front-running and other forms of Maximal Extractable Value.
The workflow follows four high-level steps. First, developers define which functions, parameters, or model prompts must execute inside TEEs. Second, the TEE decrypts inputs, executes deterministically, and re-encrypts intermediate state. Third, the enclave produces attestations, and TEN posts commitments and results to Ethereum for verification and finality. Fourth, other contracts can consume the outputs without learning the sensitive inputs or algorithms.
TEN distinguishes itself through encrypted execution, where contract state and logic stay encrypted while in use, not just at rest or in transit. TEE-backed trust ensures that secure enclaves enforce code integrity and confidentiality, with hardware attestation proving what ran. Ethereum security means results finalize on Ethereum, so settlement and data availability inherit Layer-1 security assumptions.
Composability without exposure allows private components to interact with public contracts, enabling hybrid apps that share only what is necessary. The platform is developer-friendly, allowing builders to use familiar Ethereum tooling and patterns while selectively marking functions for encrypted execution.
TEN addresses a fundamental gap in public blockchains. While public blockchains unlocked transparency, they made some categories such as trading, gaming, and AI inference hard to build without leaking alpha, models, or user data. TEN closes that gap by letting teams launch private-by-default experiences that still feel like native Ethereum dapps. Instead of exposing every variable and instruction to the public mempool, TEN executes sensitive parts of a contract within secure hardware enclaves, then anchors results to Ethereum.
TEN serves multiple functions within the protocol ecosystem. It is used to pay gas fees for executing transactions and smart contracts on the TEN Layer-2 network, as well as for data storage costs. Aggregator nodes stake TEN to participate in rollup creation, transaction sequencing, and consensus through the Proof of Block Inclusion mechanism. The token is also used for network staking for validator operations.
TEN holders participate in protocol governance, including decisions related to network upgrades, attestation constraints, economic parameters, security policies, protocol development, and resource allocation. AI agents deployed within TEEs can hold and spend TEN, enabling autonomous execution of transactions, contract interactions, and asset management.
TEN is also used within reward pools that compensate network participants for processing transactions and maintaining network liveness, with mechanisms to burn excess tokens when applicable. The token thus functions as both a utility token for network operations and a governance token for protocol decision-making.
The TEN ecosystem focuses on several flagship use cases. Private DeFi includes sealed-bid auctions, hidden-order books, MEV-resistant routing, and credit scoring with confidential inputs. Verifiable AI agents allow LLM and agent prompts, weights, and context to remain private while attestations prove the policy and version that ran. On-chain iGaming enables fair games with protected RNG seeds and anti-bot logic, revealing outcomes but not exploitable internals. Data exchanges allow computation on sensitive data such as KYC, medical, and enterprise data to produce proofs or scores without exposing raw records.
Example application patterns include sealed-state AMMs that route orders privately and publish settlement proofs publicly, confidential agent rails where agents act on user intent and private context with verifiable policies, provable games that keep strategies and RNG secret while proving fairness and outcomes, and enterprise workflows that run sensitive business logic on-chain without exposing customer or pricing data.
A named application called CipherSwap demonstrates how users can encrypt swaps at the chain level, eliminating mempool sniping and sandwich attacks. It is open for developers to extend by building private pools, adding private token support, and forking the interface.
In August 2025, TEN Protocol launched a Community-First Raise titled Infrastructure Ownership for the Next Era of Ethereum.
TEN is not mined through traditional proof-of-work mechanisms. Instead, network participation is structured around staking. Aggregator nodes stake TEN to participate in rollup creation, transaction sequencing, and consensus through the Proof of Block Inclusion mechanism. This staking model secures the network while aligning participant incentives with network health and liveness.
Users who wish to support the network can participate in staking for validator operations. The reward pools within the protocol compensate network participants for processing transactions and maintaining network liveness, with mechanisms to burn excess tokens when applicable. This creates a sustainable economic model where active participants are rewarded for their contributions to network security and operation.
Prospective participants should review the official TEN Protocol documentation and roadmap portal for detailed information on staking requirements, aggregator node operation, and reward structures. The protocol's design emphasizes that staking is not merely a passive activity but an active role in maintaining the encrypted execution environment and consensus mechanism.
Securing TEN tokens requires attention to both general cryptocurrency security practices and the specific characteristics of the TEN network. TEN is issued on Ethereum at contract address 0xEa9Bb54fC76BfD5DD2FF2f6dA641E78C230bB683 and can be held in wallets that support Ethereum and Layer-2 networks. Users should verify contract addresses through official sources before interacting with any token.
The TEN Protocol emphasizes hardware-based privacy through Trusted Execution Environments, but this does not replace the need for personal security hygiene. Users should store private keys securely, preferably in hardware wallets for significant holdings, and avoid sharing seed phrases or private keys with anyone. Enabling two-factor authentication on exchange accounts and using unique, strong passwords are essential practices.
When interacting with the TEN network, users should ensure they are using official portals. The airdrop claim portal is available at airdrop.ten.xyz, and the roadmap portal is at roadmap.ten.xyz. The official website is ten.xyz. Users should be cautious of phishing attempts that mimic official TEN Protocol communications. The project maintains an active presence on X at @tenprotocol, which serves as a primary source for official announcements.
For long-term storage, consider using hardware wallets that support Ethereum and Layer-2 networks. Always double-check transaction details before signing, and be aware that transactions on TEN are encrypted before submission, which provides privacy benefits but also means users should verify recipient addresses carefully. Staying informed through official channels and exercising caution with unsolicited offers or links will help protect TEN holdings.
As with any cryptocurrency, the value of TEN can fluctuate significantly, and no outcome is guaranteed. Regulatory treatment of privacy-focused networks and tokens may change across jurisdictions, which could affect availability or operation. The protocol also depends on hardware-based privacy mechanisms and ongoing development, and technical vulnerabilities or execution failures could pose risks. The points above are informational and should not be treated as assurances of performance or safety.
