View ChartPolkadex (PDEX) is the native token of Polkadex, a decentralized peer-to-peer trading platform that combines the strengths of centralized and decentralized exchanges into a single product. Built with Substrate as an independent Layer 1 blockchain, Polkadex was originally launched within the Polkadot ecosystem and is purpose-built for high-performance decentralized trading. The platform is designed to overcome common DEX issues such as front-running, arbitrage, price slippage, and high transaction fees. PDEX has a maximum supply of 20,000,000 tokens, with a total supply of 22.8 million and a circulating supply reported at 8.36 million. The project is currently in an active development phase, with its Polkadex 2.0 Orderbook testnet having run for 70 days and a mainnet launch planned.
Polkadex is led by three co-founders who are all engineers. Vivek Prasannan serves as Executive Director; he is an experienced businessman who has founded, developed, and successfully exited two start-ups in cloud computing, infrastructure support, and fintech, with engineering knowledge in C++, RUST, and the Substrate Framework. Gautham J is the CEO; he developed his own version of a consensus algorithm known as Pebble using Lamport's vector clocks, and the team of developers he led received a blockchain innovation award from the BFSI sector by Banking Frontier. Deepansh Singh is the COO; he has experience developing successful business strategies for multiple early-stage start-ups, and together with Gautham, he received an award for the innovative Pebble consensus algorithm. The core development team consists of 15 engineers working on the Polkadex core blockchain, Substrate Enclave, High-Frequency Trading Orderbook, website and UI/UX frontend, and mobile application.
Polkadex operates as a non-custodial peer-to-peer orderbook-based exchange. Its architecture combines multiple technologies including blockchain, parachain, TEE, IPFS, and other latest technologies. The platform is built on Substrate and uses the Pebble consensus algorithm, which was developed by Gautham J using Lamport's vector clocks to enable high throughput transactions in permissionless networks. Polkadex claims performance of up to 500,000 transactions per second with low latency of 20 milliseconds, sub-millisecond matching, and on-chain settlement. Users can connect their own bots and market-making strategies and trade programmatically against a real orderbook, with keys never leaving their wallet. The Polkadex Orderbook merges the benefits of centralized and decentralized exchanges in one product, providing a fully decentralized platform for exchanging tokens in a peer-to-peer trustless environment.
Polkadex distinguishes itself through a combination of features that address common pain points in decentralized trading. The platform offers the highest level of security for user funds, lightning-fast speed of up to 500,000 transactions per second, and low latency of 20 milliseconds. It supports advanced features like high-frequency trading and trading bots, and provides a user-friendly design with easy navigation on desktop, mobile, and app. PDEX stakers can reduce swap fees to zero, and the platform features zero gas fees. Polkadex also offers decentralized KYC for large volume traders and institutions, fiat on-ramp, interoperability between blockchains, and cross-chain liquidity support. Additionally, Polkadex includes an IDO platform based fully on the blockchain, described as the first on the market, and provides fungible assets for teams that want to mint their native tokens.
PDEX is the native token of the Polkadex network and serves multiple functions within the ecosystem. PDEX stakers can reduce swap fees to zero, providing a direct utility incentive for holding and staking the token. The token is used for governance, as the Mainnet Explorer supports Governance functionality alongside Send PDEX and Stake operations. PDEX is also used within the Polkadex Orderbook for trading and settlement. The token facilitates participation in the network's decentralized trading environment, where users can trade programmatically against a real orderbook. As the native token of a platform that supports an IDO platform, fungible assets, and NFTs, PDEX is positioned to serve as a core asset for various activities within the Polkadex ecosystem.
The Polkadex ecosystem is actively expanding through several development initiatives. The Polkadex Mainnet Explorer has been fully open-sourced, including the block explorer, non-custodial wallet UI, chain indexer, and JSON API, with the same code running at explorer.polkadex.ee. Trading APIs went live on the Polkadex testnet, allowing users to connect their own bots and market-making strategies to trade programmatically against a real orderbook. The Polkadex 2.0 Orderbook testnet was live for 70 days, with the testnet closing September 30 and mainnet launching in November 2026. Wallet integrations include Ledger support via polkadot.js and Talisman Wallet. Weekly community metrics shared on X include 31 new wallets, 75 cross-chain transfers, and 107 orders in one week. The ecosystem also includes an IDO platform, fungible assets, and plans for NFTs and other features.
Polkadex does not use traditional mining. Instead, the network operates on a consensus algorithm called Pebble, which was developed by Gautham J using Lamport's vector clocks to enable high throughput transactions in permissionless networks. PDEX holders can participate in staking, which allows them to reduce swap fees to zero. The Mainnet Explorer supports staking functionality alongside Send PDEX and Governance operations. The tokenomics include staking rewards as part of the original distribution. With a fully unlocked supply and zero vesting overhang, every PDEX in existence is already circulating, meaning there are no future unlocks or VC vesting overhangs that would dilute stakers. Users interested in supporting the network can stake their PDEX tokens through the available governance and staking interfaces.
Keeping PDEX safe requires attention to secure storage and verified information. Users can create a Ledger Polkadex (PDEX) account with a Ledger device and polkadot.js, and can also connect to Talisman Wallet. The Polkadex Mainnet Explorer includes a non-custodial wallet UI, meaning keys never leave the user's wallet during trading. Since Polkadex is a non-custodial platform, users retain control of their funds throughout their trading activity. Investors should be aware that Polkadex is a volatile digital asset that can lose value rapidly, and doing your own research is advised. Additionally, Pro-Dex (Nasdaq Capital Market: PDEX) clarified that it is not affiliated with Polkadex, so investors should verify any PDEX research or trades to avoid ticker-symbol collision risks. Swap is currently paused for Polkadot (DOT) according to Ledger support information.
