View ChartMXNB is a fiat-backed stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the Mexican peso (MXN), issued by Juno, a licensed Bitso company. It is an ERC-20 token designed to bring the Mexican peso onchain for cross-border payments, foreign exchange, and SPEI transfers. The token is available across multiple networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, and Polygon, giving users flexibility in choosing the blockchain that best suits their needs.
Each MXNB token is backed 1:1 by Mexican pesos and cash equivalents held in regulated institutions. Reserves are verified through monthly attestations by a Big Four auditor; the project also references quarterly attestations by independent third parties. The project launched on May 5, 2025. On May 6, 2026, MXNB became the first Latin American currency-pegged stablecoin issued under El Salvador's CNAD regulation.
MXNB is spearheaded by a team of experienced professionals in the Latin American cryptocurrency sector. MXNB is launched by Bitso, described as the largest and most trusted blockchain-based finance company in Latin America, and issued by its subsidiary Juno.
The team behind MXNB consists of experts who have leveraged blockchain technology to address local currency inflation and cross-border payments beyond legacy banking systems. Juno operates in partnership with Bitso to bridge fiat and crypto rails, enabling more efficient financial transactions.
MXNB operates as a fiat-collateralized stablecoin. Users mint MXNB by depositing Mexican pesos via SPEI to an assigned transfer account number (CLABE). Equivalent MXNB tokens are then minted 1:1 and credited to a Juno account, with zero fees. To redeem, users request a payout, and their MXNB balance is deducted and the tokens are burned. The equivalent amount in MXN is transferred to the selected payout account, either directly to a bank or to a Bitso Nvio account if using Bitso Transfer.
The token is built on a multi-network architecture, with native deployments on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, and Polygon. The smart contract includes several key capabilities: it is pausable in case of a serious bug or key compromise, upgradable via a proxy contract, and includes a blacklist function to prevent certain addresses from transferring or receiving tokens. Tokens can be minted or burned on demand, managed by multiple minters under the control of a masterMinter address. The contract also has an owner who can change key addresses such as the pauser, blacklister, or masterMinter.
Administrative control is concentrated: the pauser, blacklister, masterMinter, proxyOwner and owner addresses hold significant power over transfers, minting and upgrades. The project's self-reported circulating supply has not been verified by CoinMarketCap.
Security is reinforced through advanced Multi-Party Computation (MPC) vaults, and fiat reserves are held securely in Tier-1 banks. Reserves are held in regulated institutions, with monthly attestations by a Big Four auditor to verify full backing by segregated MXN reserves; the project also references quarterly attestations by independent third parties.
MXNB combines the advantages of blockchain technology — transparency, transaction speed, and global accessibility — with the stability of a fiat currency. It is designed to move pesos onchain for B2B payouts, FX, and SPEI, enabling companies to smoothly access the Mexican market and offer products and services denominated in pesos. The potential for stablecoins in transforming traditional FX includes faster settlement, near-instant, and lower fees than traditional rails.
Key value propositions include stable and transparent backing with quarterly attestations, instant access and fast settlement 24/7, seamless on- and off-ramps via SPEI, multi-network efficiency across Arbitrum, Ethereum, and Avalanche, lower costs without FX markups or banking delays, frictionless market access for payments and payroll, easy programmability via API and smart contracts, and real-time visibility of flows, balances, and transaction history on public ledgers.
MXNB is also notable for being the first Latin American currency-pegged stablecoin issued under El Salvador's CNAD regulation, a significant regulatory milestone for the project. The token is designed to adhere to international best practices and market standards for AML/CFT compliance.
MXNB is primarily used for B2B payouts, foreign exchange, SPEI transfers, cross-border payments, remittances, payroll, local partner integrations, treasury operations, payments, and settlements. It is designed for fintech companies, payment providers, wallets, transmitters, remittances, and crypto platforms, as well as developers, financial services businesses, and web3-native companies who want to access the Mexican market.
The token enables companies to offer products and services denominated in Mexican pesos without the friction of traditional banking. MXNB can be used as a ramp between fiat and crypto rails, with conversion into other stablecoins available through supported platforms. It can be integrated via API and smart contracts to automate payments, settlements, and treasury operations.
The MXNB ecosystem is expanding through partnerships and integrations. The token is available for trading on various exchanges, providing investors with exposure to Mexico's emerging market. Popular MXNB conversion pairs include MXNB to AUD, BRL, CAD, EUR, GBP, HKD, RUB, SGD, TWD, and KRW.
The issuer, Juno, is a stablecoin issuer that bridges fiat and crypto rails, with MXNB being its first issued token. Bitso, the parent company, provides regulatory and technical support. The project has also secured a license from El Salvador's CNAD, allowing it to operate under a recognized regulatory framework. The ecosystem continues to develop with a focus on cross-border B2B payments and efficient financial transactions.
MXNB is not mined through traditional proof-of-work or proof-of-stake mechanisms. Instead, it is minted by depositing Mexican pesos via SPEI to an assigned transfer account number (CLABE). Equivalent MXNB tokens are then minted 1:1 and credited to a Juno account, with zero fees. There is no mining or staking involved.
To acquire MXNB, users can mint it directly through the issuer or purchase it on supported exchanges and decentralized platforms. Redemption is equally straightforward: users request a payout, their MXNB balance is deducted and the tokens are burned, and the equivalent amount in MXN is transferred to the selected payout account. There are no management, performance, subscription, or redemption fees.
To keep your MXNB safe, use a reputable wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens and the networks on which MXNB operates, such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, and Polygon. Hardware wallets are recommended for long-term storage as they provide an extra layer of security by keeping private keys offline. Always ensure your wallet software is up to date and download it from official sources.
Be cautious of phishing attempts and fake websites. Always verify contract addresses and official links before interacting with any platform. Since MXNB is a regulated stablecoin, it is protected by advanced Multi-Party Computation (MPC) vaults, and fiat reserves are held in Tier-1 banks. The smart contract includes a pausable function and a blacklist to prevent malicious activity, but users should still practice good security hygiene, such as using strong, unique passwords and enabling two-factor authentication where available.
MXNB, like other stablecoins, carries risks. Its price can deviate from the peg, regulatory policies may change, and smart contract vulnerabilities or network issues could affect its operation. The information here is not a guarantee of stability or security.
