View ChartCanxium (CAU) is a next-generation Proof of Work (PoW) blockchain platform built around the concept of offline mining. Tagged as "Powering Crypto, Even Offline," Canxium aims to unite miners worldwide to secure a single chain with zero wasted hash power and second-level block times. The project launched in 2023 through a fair launch; sources list the launch date as April 2023 (CoinMarketCap: 2023-04-29; CoinDesk: 2023-04-30). It is designed to address common blockchain challenges such as price volatility, scalability, and mining centralization.
At its core, Canxium introduces a decentralized supply control mechanism that adjusts CAU issuance based on real market demand rather than a fixed schedule. Canxium originally combined Proof of Work, Proof of Demand, and Proof of Stake in a three-way hybrid model. According to the project's roadmap, this model was retired in 2026 in favor of PoW 2.0, a Cooperative Consensus Protocol returning Canxium to a pure Proof-of-Work design. Canxium is EVM-compatible, supporting Solidity smart contracts, ERC-20 tokens, and tools like MetaMask and Remix.
For the PoW 2.0 era, which lasts at least two centuries, CAU behaves as a hard-capped asset with total supply approaching ~33 million CAU. A supply cap proposal of 20 million CAU was introduced in May 2025. The total supply stands at 1,413,067 CAU, with a circulating supply of 1,231,980 CAU, representing about 87% of the total.
Canxium began as a side project and is maintained and developed by Neo (also referred to as Neo Krypt), with additional members to be recruited over time. Neo Krypt is described as a seasoned blockchain developer with a background in cryptographic development, and is also characterized as an anonymous developer.
Canxium operates as an independent, community-driven project with both full-time and volunteer members. Detailed public information about the broader team structure and organizational governance is currently limited.
Canxium originally operated on a Three-Body Consensus that combined three distinct algorithms. The first was Proof of Work, which introduced offline mining, allowing miners to mine CAU without a constant internet connection. The network supports multiple PoW algorithms simultaneously, enabling miners to use a variety of hardware. A Canxium node is a single go-canxium binary running PoW 2.0, and the chain produces second-level blocks with zero wasted hash power.
In practice, CAU is earned through cross-chain mining with Kaspa: a miner mines Kaspa (kHeavyHash) as normal and tags the Kaspa block with a Canxium address to also receive CAU. Kaspa was the first chain supported and remains the primary one; the project has begun expanding to other PoW chains such as Ravencoin/KawPoW.
The second component was Proof of Demand, a decentralized supply control mechanism. When demand for CAU rises, the price increases, motivating more miners to participate. This raises total mining difficulty, leading to the creation of more CAU coins. When demand falls, the price drops, some miners exit, mining difficulty decreases, and new coin creation is reduced. This dynamic prevents oversupply and supports ecosystem stability.
The third component was Proof of Stake. Anyone can become a validator by staking 320 CAU. Validators preserve network integrity and verify offline transactions. According to the reference materials, stakers validate transactions without a reward for doing so.
Canxium's primary differentiator is its offline mining capability, which democratizes access to mining by allowing participants to earn rewards anytime, anywhere, and on any device, even without an internet connection. This lowers barriers to entry and encourages the use of untapped green energy sources.
The decentralized supply control mechanism is another distinctive feature. By tying coin issuance directly to market demand rather than a fixed schedule, Canxium aims to prevent oversupply and maintain price stability. The project also emphasizes low-cost transactions, making it suitable for various financial applications.
Security is reinforced through the PoW mechanism and a contract creation fee that reduces spam contracts. The network's EVM compatibility allows developers to deploy Solidity smart contracts and ERC-20 tokens, connecting Canxium to the broader Ethereum tooling ecosystem.
CAU is the native coin of the Canxium blockchain and serves multiple purposes. It is used to pay transaction fees on the network, which are designed to be competitive and reasonable. Users can generate CAU through mining, and validators must stake 320 CAU to participate in network security and offline transaction verification.
CAU is also required for smart contract deployment. Contract creation requires a minimum fee to discourage spam; the official guide states a minimum of 1 CAU, while CoinMarketCap lists at least 100 CAU. Beyond these core functions, CAU can be used within Canxium's own DEX and is available for trading on external markets.
The Canxium ecosystem includes its own decentralized exchange (DEX), where users can withdraw CAU from a centralized exchange and try the DEX. The platform supports ERC-20 token creation and deployment on both testnet and mainnet, enabling developers to build and test applications.
Canxium has integrated with Tangem, a cold wallet solution that supports CAU. The project also supports MetaMask as a hot wallet. A testnet faucet provides Testnet CAU for developers. The project is community-driven, with social channels hosted on CoinMarketCap. The ecosystem remains in an early stage, with ongoing development focused on its mining and smart contract capabilities.
Mining Canxium involves generating CAU through the network's Proof of Work mechanism. The key feature is offline mining, which allows miners to work on transactions without an internet connection. The network supports multiple PoW algorithms simultaneously, so miners can use a variety of hardware.
In practice, CAU is earned through cross-chain mining with Kaspa: a miner mines Kaspa (kHeavyHash) as normal and tags the Kaspa block with a Canxium address to also receive CAU. The relevant hardware is a Kaspa ASIC (kHeavyHash).
Miners earn rewards for every difficulty they overcome. Mining difficulty adjusts dynamically based on demand: it increases when demand and price rise, and decreases when they fall. This creates a feedback loop that regulates coin creation. To run a node, users operate a single go-canxium binary running PoW 2.0, which can be run with or without mining. Validators who stake 320 CAU verify offline transactions without a reward for doing so.
For long-term storage, Canxium has integrated support with Tangem, a hardware cold wallet solution that supports CAU, providing a secure way to store assets offline. Users can purchase a Tangem wallet from Tangem's official website and download the Tangem Wallet App.
For everyday use, MetaMask is supported as a hot wallet. To set it up, install MetaMask, open the settings icon, navigate to Networks, click Add Network, enter Canxium's details, confirm, and switch to the network. As with any cryptocurrency, users should safeguard their private keys, verify contract addresses before interacting with them, and consider using hardware storage for significant holdings. Always confirm transactions and contract details on the Canxium Explorer at scan.canxium.org.
