Fed Dot Plot: 16 Officials Expect Another Rate Hike in 2026
Odaily News: The Federal Reserve announced a 25 basis point rate hike today (the 17th), marking its first increase of 2026. The Fed's latest dot plot shows that 18 of 19 officials submitted dot plot projections (consistent with June), with 16 of them believing another rate hike is warranted this year. Specifically, 4 officials expect a cumulative 75 basis point hike in 2026 (compared to 1 in June), 12 officials expect a cumulative 50 basis point hike (compared to 5 in June), 2 officials expect a cumulative 25 basis point hike (compared to 3 in June), 0 officials expect rates to remain unchanged at 3.5%-3.75% this year (compared to 8 in June), and 0 officials expect a cumulative 25 basis point cut (compared to 1 in June).
