US Media: Republican Confidence in Economy Plummets

Typically, the party in power is more optimistic about the economy, while the opposition is much more pessimistic. But unusually, even with a Republican in the White House, Republican voters have become increasingly negative about the economy this year. With only two months left until Election Day, this adds another "ominous sign" for Trump.

The director of the University of Michigan's consumer survey said that most of the time, Republicans' and Democrats' confidence in the economy moves roughly in parallel, but that is not the case now.
