Bitcoin has reignited its bullish momentum with a decisive breakout above the 200-day simple moving average, signaling a potential 10% correction before the next leg up. The leading cryptocurrency closed above this crucial technical indicator for the first time since November, establishing fresh support at $67,000-$67,200. Traders now eye the $70,500 resistance level as the primary hurdle, with a sharp rebound bringing this key price zone into sharp focus.

Sharp rebound brings $70,500 into focus

BTC rallied from the $63,000 zone, overcoming previous obstacles and moving toward a major resistance cluster. According to trader That Martini Guy, the four-hour chart shows Bitcoin near $69,018 after surging from its recent trading range.

The trader highlighted $70,500 as the critical resistance bulls must overcome to enable a further move higher. With BTC reclaiming former resistance at $64,000, $65,700, and $67,200, these regions are now defined as key support if the breakout holds.

Of particular significance, the $67,200 mark now represents the primary floor that buyers are expected to defend. That Martini Guy described this zone as the level separating healthy pullbacks from a failed breakout structure.

BTC must hold $67,200 to confirm the new short-term structure. If buyers defend this level, tests of $70,500 could continue, while losses below the zone might expose $65,700 and lower.

A successful close and hold above $70,500 could lead BTC toward the $71,500 and $72,000 resistance bands. On the downside, if $67,200 fails to hold, subsequent supports are seen at $65,700, $64,000, and the broader $63,000 area.

Daily close above 200-day simple moving average

BTC also crossed above its 200-day simple moving average, a significant long-term trend indicator. The daily chart from trader Sykodelic recorded Bitcoin closing at $69,545, surpassing the descending average and signaling renewed bullish momentum.

It marked the first daily close above the 200-day SMA since November. Sykodelic argued that recovering this level typically aligns with broader trend changes in the Bitcoin market.

Despite this technical milestone, Sykodelic is watching for a weekly close above the indicator before considering the rally fully confirmed. The trader cautioned that a pullback below the 200-day SMA could indicate a false breakout and undermine recent gains.

The $67,000-$67,200 range remains the critical threshold for invalidation. Both Sykodelic and That Martini Guy emphasize that holding above this zone is essential for maintaining a bullish outlook, while a breakdown would increase the likelihood of a deeper correction to the mid-$60,000 region.

A single daily close above a long-term trend indicator is a positive signal, but sustained momentum and a strong weekly close are necessary before confirming a new direction for BTC.

If Bitcoin maintains support above $67,200, the path to $70,500 and beyond remains open for bulls. However, failing to defend these recent gains could quickly shift the technical landscape back to a defensive posture for buyers.
