View ChartOrbs (ORBS) is the native token of the Orbs Network, a public blockchain infrastructure project that combines scalability, low fees, performance, security, and ease of use. The platform is designed for mass-use applications and supports a complete blockchain stack, positioning itself as a decentralized Layer-3 (L3) blockchain optimized specifically for advanced on-chain trading. Orbs operates as a decentralized, open, and transparent network offering practical blockchain solutions for enterprises and large-scale consumer applications.
The ORBS token serves as the network's utility and governance token, with a total supply of 10,000,000,000 ORBS. The project was founded in 2017 by a team of Israeli-based researchers and crypto enthusiasts, with its mainnet and token launching in March 2019. Orbs has established partnerships with technology industry leaders including IBM, Binance, Consensys, and Celsius to promote blockchain adoption. The platform emphasizes seamless token transfers between blockchains and provides developers access to its ecosystem, wallets, and tokens.
Orbs was built and designed by a team of Israeli-based researchers and crypto enthusiasts. There are four key people behind the project: Daniel Peled, Tal Kol, Netta Korin, and Uriel Peled.
Daniel Peled serves as President of Orbs. He is also co-founder and CEO of an Israeli fintech startup called PayKey, which counts MasterCard and Santander InnoVentures among its investors. Peled is a veteran of the Israeli Bitcoin community, holds an LLM and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and was the first person in Israel to ICO a blockchain company.
Tal Kol holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Technion in Haifa, Israel. He is an expert in blockchain applications and formerly served as head of engineering at Kin by Kik Interactive. Prior to Orbs, he co-founded Appixia, a mobile app startup acquired by Wix.com, where he later served as Head of Mobile Engineering.
Netta Korin began her career on Wall Street as an investment banker and later became a hedge fund manager. She served as senior advisor to Deputy Minister for Diplomacy Dr. Michael Oren in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office and as Sr. Advisor to Gen. Mordechai on special projects in the Ministry of Defense. She currently chairs IMPACT, one of Israel's most extensive scholarship programs.
Uriel Peled is a consultant on numerous blockchain projects and has earned a reputation as one of the most influential tech personalities in Israel. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Technion and previously co-founded Visualead, an AR/VR startup acquired by Alibaba.
The project is developed by a dedicated team of more than 30 people, with offices in Tel Aviv, Israel, San Francisco, California, and Singapore. Recently, Ran Hammer was appointed Chief Executive Officer, with Nadav Shemesh moving into the role of Executive Chairman.
Orbs operates as a decentralized Layer-3 (L3) blockchain designed specifically for advanced on-chain trading. The network uses blockchain virtualization and Randomized Proof-of-Stake (RPoS) to ensure blockchain scalability. This consensus mechanism randomly selects validators to confirm transactions, providing both security and efficiency while maintaining low fees.
The platform supports a complete blockchain stack, enabling developers to build and deploy decentralized applications for mass-use scenarios. Orbs emphasizes seamless transfer of tokens between blockchains, allowing interoperability across different networks. Developers gain access to the ecosystem, its wallets, and tokens, creating an environment where practical blockchain solutions can be built for enterprises and large-scale consumer applications.
The original Orbs protocol white paper was published in April 2018, outlining the network's long-term vision and core architecture. A subsequent paper published in 2019 detailed the core differentiators of the Orbs network architecture and its approach to blockchain design.
Orbs distinguishes itself through its positioning as a Layer-3 blockchain optimized for advanced on-chain trading, combining scalability, low fees, performance, security, and ease of use. The platform's Randomized Proof-of-Stake consensus and blockchain virtualization technology address scalability challenges faced by many blockchain networks.
The project has partnered with technology industry leaders including IBM, Binance, Consensys, and Celsius to promote blockchain adoption, lending credibility and ecosystem support. Orbs offers seamless transfer of tokens between blockchains, a critical feature for interoperability in the multi-chain landscape. Developers benefit from access to the ecosystem, wallets, and tokens, reducing barriers to building and deploying applications.
The Orbs team has raised over $111 million since its launch, demonstrating significant investor confidence. The network achieved notable early milestones, including distributing 18 million ORBS to 1,448 participating addresses within four months of launch and launching its first DApp by October 2019.
ORBS is the native protocol token of the Orbs platform and serves as the network's utility and governance token. It functions as the only means of payment on the Orbs platform. The token is used for the calculation of commissions for executed applications and to pay for transaction fees.
ORBS also provides an incentive system used to select validators, thereby ensuring the integrity and security of the network. As a governance token, ORBS holders can participate in decisions affecting the platform's development and direction. The token enables holders to engage with the ecosystem, which includes access to wallets and tokens within the Orbs network.
ORBS can be bought, sold, managed, and traded directly in MetaMask, and is available on various trading platforms. Popular conversion pairs include ORBS to AUD, BRL, CAD, EUR, GBP, HKD, RUB, SGD, TWD, and KRW. Users can also swap ORBS, stake it, or use it in prediction markets and perpetual trading with leverage on supported platforms.
The Orbs Network and its native token ORBS launched in March 2019. Within four months, the network completed its first reward distribution, distributing 18 million ORBS to 1,448 participating addresses. By October 2019, the first DApp was launched on the network.
Orbs has established partnerships with IBM, Binance, Consensys, and Celsius to promote blockchain adoption. The token is listed on multiple trading platforms, with the ORBS/USDT trading pair available on Phemex, among others. Currently, ORBS trades on 181 active markets.
The project continues to develop its technology and ecosystem. Recent leadership changes saw Ran Hammer appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Nadav Shemesh moving into the role of Executive Chairman. The Orbs platform remains focused on providing blockchain infrastructure-as-a-service for large-scale consumer applications and advanced on-chain trading.
Orbs does not use traditional proof-of-work mining. Instead, the network employs a Randomized Proof-of-Stake (RPoS) consensus mechanism. In this system, validators are selected through a randomization process to confirm transactions and secure the network. ORBS token holders can participate in staking to support network operations and potentially earn rewards.
The ORBS token provides an incentive system used to select validators, ensuring the integrity of the network. Staking ORBS typically involves holding tokens in a compatible wallet and participating in the network's validation process. Users can stake ORBS through supported platforms and wallets. The specific requirements and reward structures for staking depend on the network's current parameters and the platform used for staking.
ORBS is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, so it can be stored in any wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens. MetaMask is a widely used option that allows users to buy, sell, manage, and trade ORBS directly. MetaMask holds strong app ratings, with a 4.4 rating on Google Play and 4.7 on the App Store.
For optimal security, use a hardware wallet to store ORBS offline, protecting against online threats. Always verify contract addresses before interacting with tokens, and ensure the ERC-20 contract address matches the official Orbs token address: 0xff56cc6b1e6ded347aa0b7676c85ab0b3d08b0fa. Enable two-factor authentication where available, keep private keys and seed phrases confidential, and be cautious of phishing attempts impersonating the Orbs project.
Since Orbs operates on a decentralized network, users are responsible for their own security. Regularly update wallet software, avoid sharing sensitive information, and consider using multiple wallets to diversify risk. As with any cryptocurrency investment, only store what you can afford to lose and stay informed about the project's official communications.
