View ChartBytecoin (BCN) is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency created in 2012, widely recognized as the first project to implement CryptoNote technology. It positions itself as the first private and untraceable cryptocurrency, designed to enable fast, anonymous, and untraceable transactions. The project runs on its own blockchain built on the CryptoNote protocol and uses the CryptoNight proof-of-work algorithm. Bytecoin has a maximum supply of 184,470,000,000 BCN, with a circulating supply of approximately 184.06 billion BCN, representing roughly 99.78% of the maximum supply. The project is open-source and continues to be maintained through community participation, with recent development efforts including Auditable Wallets and Blockchain Gateways.
The team behind Bytecoin remains largely shrouded in mystery, with unknown developer names and secret information surrounding its origins. The official community manager is Jenny Goldberg, who also serves as chief marketing officer for the Bytecoin network. Gabriel Carranza serves as partnership manager. The project maintains contact channels at [email protected] and [email protected] for customer support. Detailed public information about the founding developers is currently limited, and the project has historically been associated with the deep web era.
Bytecoin operates on a Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism using the CryptoNight algorithm. The protocol's cryptographic foundation was created by Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Yael Taumann in 2001, and finalized by E. Fujisaki and K. Suzuki in 2007. The signature algorithm uses the EdDSA scheme proposed by American mathematician Daniel Bernstein, with additional transaction obfuscation layered on top. Privacy is achieved through ring signatures that allow a user to sign a transaction on behalf of a group, and unlinkable addresses that generate multiple one-time addresses derived from the user's public key. This passive mixing means all transactions in the system are anonymous, giving all participants plausible deniability. The blockchain uses no hard-coded constraints, forming a flexible chain that adapts to network conditions, generating a block every 2 minutes with difficulty retargeted each block.
Bytecoin's primary distinction is its status as the first private untraceable cryptocurrency and the first implementation of CryptoNote technology. Its ring signatures protect sender identity, while unlinkable addresses prevent blockchain analysis. The CryptoNight algorithm actively uses the AES instruction set of x86 microprocessors and requires substantial memory, making GPU mining less efficient than Bitcoin and enabling CPU mining where every modern PC can theoretically mine profitably. Recent technical additions include Auditable Wallets, which support secure publicly observable deposits while maintaining privacy, and Blockchain Gateways, which connect the Bytecoin blockchain to other blockchains to expand interoperability. The project also embeds unique data in its blockchain, including geographic coordinates of universities and educational institutions, and quotations from the Cyphernomicon, William Gibson's Neuromancer, and other authors since August 11, 2012.
Bytecoin is designed for fast, anonymous, and untraceable transactions, making it suitable for users who prioritize financial privacy. Its key customer-facing value propositions include fund security, resistance to hacking attacks, protection of personal data, and instant international transfers with zero fees. The cryptocurrency can be used for private peer-to-peer payments and international remittance. Planned and developed features expand its utility further, including a payment gateway capable of receiving and sending thousands of transactions simultaneously, a blockchain-based alias system, blockchain-based assets, smart contracts with an embedded Turing-complete language, untraceable tokens, HD wallets, and hardware wallet support.
The Bytecoin ecosystem has evolved through several development milestones. In 2013, the original CryptoNote Java implementation was rewritten in C++. On March 31, 2015, developers published a roadmap covering a payment gateway, desktop GUI wallet software released in April 2015, multiple API layers for software integration, a blockchain-based aliases system, blockchain-based assets, and smart contracts with an embedded Turing-complete language. On December 5, 2017, an article on Untraceable Tokens and Proof of Concept was published, with development planned for December 15, 2017. On December 12, 2018, Bytecoin v3.4.0 Amethyst Beta was released, featuring HD Wallets, unlinkable addresses, a new signature scheme design, anonymity improvements, an improved P2P protocol, auditable wallets, and hardware wallet support. On September 3, 2019, Bytecoin Zero public beta was released, followed by further beta testing noted on December 17, 2019. The project is decentralized, run by a blockchain operated by numerous nodes worldwide, with no single entity controlling the system.
Bytecoin is a CPU-mined currency using the CryptoNight algorithm under an Egalitarian Proof-of-Work model that is resistant to ASIC and GPU mining. The algorithm actively uses the AES instruction set of x86 microprocessors and requires a large amount of memory, which makes GPU mining less efficient than Bitcoin and allows every modern PC to theoretically perform profitable Bytecoin mining. Mining is open to anyone, and any user can join the network and help issue Bytecoin using the computing power of network members. Block rewards decrease each period, with a new block generated every 120 seconds and difficulty retargeted each block. The emission of Bytecoins is limited to just 184.47 billion.
Bytecoin provides several wallet options to help users secure their holdings. Desktop GUI wallet software was released in April 2015, and HD Wallets (hierarchical deterministic wallets) were introduced in the v3.4.0 Amethyst Beta release. Hardware wallet support was also included in that release, allowing users to store private keys offline. Auditable Wallets support secure, publicly observable deposits, adding transparency while preserving privacy. Users should download wallet software only from the official website at bytecoin.org. When performing manual swaps on decentralized exchanges, carefully verify addresses and remain alert to fraud or phishing attacks, as recommended by security guidance in the ecosystem.
Bytecoin may be listed on select exchanges. For a secure and liquid trading experience, using a major regulated platform like BTCC is recommended.

When trading BCN futures on BTCC, technical chart analysis begins with identifying key support and resistance levels on 1D and 4H charts using historical price pivots. Next, apply MA/EMA indicators to gauge trend directions, alongside RSI (values above 70 indicate overbought conditions, while below 30 suggest oversold levels). Always validate breakout signals with the 24h trading volume (C$0.009803), as price breakouts accompanied by strong volume offer higher reliability.
Unlike spot trading where you can only profit from rising prices, BTCC’s BCNUSDT perpetual contracts support two-way trading. If you anticipate a price decline for Bytecoin, simply log into your BTCC account with USDT margin available, navigate to the BCNUSDT pair, set your desired leverage and Take-Profit/Stop-Loss levels, and click "Sell/Short". Once the price drops to your target, close your position to lock in profit from the price difference.
Yes. BTCC offers flexible, high-tier leverage options for BCNUSDT perpetual futures, providing up to 500x leverage (maximum leverage limits may vary depending on liquidity). While leverage boosts capital efficiency by allowing you to control larger position sizes with less margin, it also amplifies liquidation risks proportionately. BTCC strongly advises using Stop-Loss orders to strictly manage risk when trading with high leverage.
Beginners and traders testing new strategies can switch to BTCC's "Demo Trading" mode with a single click on the App or Web interface. The demo account comes pre-loaded with risk-free virtual funds (such as 100,000 USDT). Powered by live market prices (current price: C$0.000033), you can practise opening/closing positions, adjusting leverage, and setting TP/SL for BCNUSDT with zero financial risk.
Trading Bytecoin (BCN) on BTCC requires just 4 simple steps: 1) Register a BTCC account and complete basic Identity Verification (KYC); 2) Buy USDT using fiat via credit card/express payment, or deposit USDT/BTC directly from an external wallet; 3) Navigate to the Futures section, search for BCNUSDT, and review its live price (C$0.000033) and chart; 4) Select your margin mode and leverage, choose "Buy/Long" or "Sell/Short" based on your market outlook, set TP/SL orders, and confirm your trade.
