Lionel Messi launches his own NFT collection, ERN prices skyrocket by 45%

Argentine soccer legend Lionel Messi has partnered with Ethernity Chain to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) collection called Messiverse, a collection of digital drawings endorsed by Messi himself.

Messiverse Collection

Messi announced the Messiverse on August 4 through a short video on his personal Facebook page.

“Football is like art: It’s timeless,” the Barcelona soccer star said, followed by an invitation to the audience “to discover his first NFT collection on Ethernity.”

The Argentine superstar’s collection includes four works of his own art:

  • “Man from the Future” – a futuristic portrait of Messi shot against a blue background, with glowing eyes and a robotic appearance.
  • “Worth the Weight” – The golden Messi carried a giant soccer ball the way Atlas carried heaven.
  • “The King Piece” – A chess-themed drawing featuring Messi framed by a ring of soccer balls.
  • A final drawing has not been revealed.

Messi’s NFT works were created by an Australian artist named “Bosslogic”, who is known on social media for his work with both Marvel and Disney. The final NFT – still undisclosed – will be introduced on August 20, the day Messiverse launches.

ERN token price skyrocketed

Following Messi’s announcement, Etherity Chain’s native token ERN has increased in value by more than 45%.

Etherity Chain is no stranger to such dizzying price increases. The token was priced at $74 in March 2021 and even surpassed Bitcoin to become the top trending coin in the United States.

In addition, this blockchain platform used to make a name for itself thanks to its partnerships with other superstars. Celebrities like professional hockey player Alex Ovechkin and former UFC champion Anderson Silva have launched their own NFT collections with Ethernity.

According to the official website, Etherity Chain “aims to build a proprietary NFT library and reward its creators and the community.”
