View ChartStride (STRD) is a Cosmos-native multichain liquid staking platform built to maximise staking rewards while preserving liquidity. It operates as an independent Cosmos SDK blockchain, often described as a zone, and facilitates liquid staking within the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) ecosystem. Using Stride, holders can stake assets from any IBC-compatible chain and receive liquid staking derivatives called stTokens in return. These stTokens remain freely usable across Cosmos DeFi while the underlying staked assets continue to earn staking rewards.
The project addresses a core trade-off in proof-of-stake networks: staked tokens earn passive yield but become locked and unusable in DeFi. Stride removes that constraint by issuing receipt tokens that accrue value over time. STRD is the native governance token of the Stride blockchain, which functions as a DAO. The protocol launched in 2022 and now supports a broad set of assets, with an upcoming DEX called Stride Swap positioned as an additional revenue source.
The Stride Labs team is a major contributor to the Stride Protocol. Riley Edmunds is listed as Co-Founder of Stride Labs, and Haryana is also listed as Stride Labs Co-Founder. Detailed public information about the wider founding team is currently limited. On the funding side, the project raised $10.70 million, including a $4 million round in February 2024. Pantera Capital is listed as a lead investor, alongside Ventures Capital, Tier 1, and additional backers.
Stride's workflow is built around three steps: liquid stake, earn, and redeem. Users supply native tokens and receive Stride staked tokens in return, with no waiting period and no minimum amount. The staked assets compound staking rewards, and users can pursue additional yield by lending, providing liquidity, and other DeFi strategies.
To exit, users can either redeem the native token through the app, subject to an unbonding period, or swap staked tokens instantly at the market rate on a DEX. Because staking rewards accumulate, users receive more native tokens back than they originally deposited. Stride LSTs are non-rebasing, meaning they constantly appreciate in value against the underlying staked token. For example, 1 stATOM equals 1.33 ATOM at the time of writing, and that redemption rate increases daily. Stride currently supports 17 tokens, including stTIA, stBGT, stDYM, stSAGA, stDYDX, stATOM, stOSMO, stSTARS, stJUNO, stLUNA, stEVMOS, stINJ, stUMEE, stCMDX, stSOMM, stISLM, and stBAND.
Stride is described as an appchain dominating the Cosmos LST market and as a potential largest competitor to Lido. Its addressable market spans all staked tokens on all IBC-compatible chains, and possibly beyond. The protocol has adopted Interchain Security by becoming a consumer chain of the Cosmos Hub, meaning its network is secured by Cosmos Hub validators while sharing 15% of its staking rewards with Cosmos Hub stakers, aligning incentives across the ecosystem.
STRD is described as the Cosmos LST token with buyback-and-burn. Protocol revenue from liquid staking fees and the upcoming Stride Swap DEX is used to buy back and burn STRD and a portion of ATOM, with 80% of revenue directed to buybacks and burns tied to ecosystem growth. Founders are burning 90% of their STRD. Stride has also completed 10 audits from multiple industry leaders, including seven audits by Informal Systems, two by Oak Security, and an early MVP architecture audit by Certik.
STRD is the governance token for the Stride blockchain. Because the chain functions as a DAO, no changes can be made to the Stride liquid staking protocol without governance approval. STRD holders vote on protocol upgrades, validator selection, fee parameters, and other decisions. STRD can also be staked, or bonded, within the network to help secure the chain, earning staking rewards paid in STRD plus a share of the yield from liquid-staked assets. The token is the primary mechanism through which users participate in governance and accrue value from protocol fees and staking rewards.
Stride sits at the centre of the Cosmos IBC ecosystem and carries a Berachain Ecosystem tag. Its supported assets span Celestia's TIA, Cosmos Hub's ATOM, Dymension's DYM, DYDX, Osmosis's OSMO, SAGA, and Berachain's BGT, among many others. The new stBGT product is live. The protocol has an upcoming DEX called Stride Swap, which is expected to serve as an additional revenue source feeding the buyback-and-burn mechanism.
Third-party commentary highlights the protocol's trajectory. Delphi Digital noted Stride's growth in total value locked, describing it as good for both Stride and the broader ecosystem. Mars Protocol emphasised that liquid staking derivatives such as stATOM are critical to attracting proof-of-stake token liquidity. Thyborg of Informal Systems framed Stride's total addressable market as all staked tokens on all IBC-compatible chains. Blockworks Research described Stride as an appchain dominating the Cosmos LST market that gives 100% of protocol staking rewards to stakers.
STRD is not mined through proof-of-work. It is a Cosmos SDK proof-of-stake asset secured by Tendermint consensus and Interchain Security, with Cosmos Hub validators helping secure the network. Participants acquire STRD through supported trading markets or by engaging with the protocol, then stake or bond it within the network to help secure the chain. Staking STRD earns rewards paid in STRD plus a share of the yield from liquid-staked assets. Users can also earn returns by liquid staking supported assets such as ATOM, TIA, OSMO, DYDX, and others, receiving stTokens that continue to accrue staking rewards while remaining usable in DeFi.
Stride states that safety and security are its top priority and that it has undergone extensive audits and safety measures to protect staked assets. The protocol has completed 10 audits, including seven by Informal Systems covering all features and security measures, two by Oak Security covering core functionality and ICA oracle contracts, and an early Certik audit of the MVP architecture.
For individual holders, standard self-custody practices apply: store STRD in a reputable non-custodial wallet that supports Cosmos-based assets, safeguard seed phrases and private keys offline, verify official links before interacting with any application, and be alert to phishing attempts that impersonate the project. Because Stride operates across IBC, users should confirm they are interacting with the correct chain and the official Stride interface. Governance participants should also review proposals carefully before voting, since protocol changes require approval through the DAO.
