The number of Bitcoin ATMs in the US has increased by 177% in the past year

As of March 1, 2020, the number of new Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide is close to 10,000. According to the latest data from Coin ATM Radar, the current number of machines is 16,835 machines, up 57.5%, equivalent to 9,683 new machines compared to 7,152 units of last year.

Back in November 2020, the number of ATMs saw a noticeable 80% increase annually. As before, the majority of these ATMs are still installed in the US, where 81% (13,699 out of 16,835 worldwide) are installed.

In the US, the growth rate of the number of Bitcoin ATMs is enormous, rising to 177% from March 1, 2020, or from 4,945 to 13,699 on March 10, 2021. Canada, the country with the number of The second highest Bitcoin ATM, also owns 1,268 devices, accounting for about 7.5% of all machines worldwide.

Two of the top countries followed by Coin ATM Radar, Austria and the UK, have seen somewhat contrasting trends in Bitcoin ATMs installations over the past few years: in the past, the number of The machine peaked in May 2019, at 266, and has since dropped to 153 through the first week of March – a decrease of 42.5%.

In the UK, the rate of decline in Bitcoin ATMs is somewhat slower, with a peak of 283 in February 2020 compared to 199 in the latest figures: a drop of less than 30%. Figures for the whole of Europe show that the increase is more or less stable, but quite modest, from a total of 1,233 units in March 2020 to 1,273 at present.

Coin ATM Radar token that tracks the speed at which crypto ATMs are installed shows that up to 34.6 new ATMs are being installed every day. The majority of these machines are still in buy-only mode, at 77.6%, and only 22.4% of devices support both buying and selling activities.

While the US, Canada and Europe account for the largest share of all crypto ATMs worldwide, Hong Kong (85), Russian Federation (53) and Colombia (46) stand out as the countries with the highest number of ATMs outside of these territories.
